Theme: The World of the Monks
The journey begins with a comfortable morning drive through the countryside of northern Maharashtra. Ajanta Caves, carved into a horseshoe-shaped cliff above the Waghora River, represent one of the finest surviving expressions of ancient Buddhist art.
Dating from the 2nd century BCE to the 6th century CE, Ajanta is renowned for its murals, sculptures, and monastic architecture. A guided exploration focuses on a curated selection of caves, allowing time to appreciate the art and the monastic life they reflect.
Lunch is arranged near the site before returning to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The evening is free for rest.
Theme: Monoliths and the Historic Capital
The second day brings together Ellora's monumental rock-cut architecture and the essential highlights of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Ellora's caves illustrate the convergence of Buddhist, Hindu, and Jain traditions, culminating in the monumental Kailasa Temple.
After lunch, the tour transitions to the city, offering insight into its Mughal-era heritage before concluding.
